Claremont Publication Prize for the Study of Religion

Due Date: 09-08-2026

The Institute for Religion, Culture and Public Life at Columbia University seeks submissions to its annual Claremont Publication Prize for the Study of Religion. The publication prize is awarded to the best first book manuscript by early career scholars working in any discipline of the humanities or social sciences. Manuscripts should be completed, but should not have been submitted for publication anywhere other than to the Claremont Publication Prize. Submissions can be on any aspect of the study of religion, including the study of secularism. Prizewinners will be invited to participate in a book workshop with members of the IRCPL faculty board, and the book, when finalized, will appear in IRCPL’s series, “Religion, Culture and Public Life,” published by Columbia University Press.

Deadline for submission: 8 September 2026. More information can be found on our website.
