Humanities Special Issue: The State of LGBTQ Fiction
Due Date: 12-31-2026
This special issue of Humanities aims to reassess the field of LGBTQ fiction through an examination of both canonical and lesser-known texts. We invite contributions that offer new ways of reading foundational works or bring to light works that have been marginalized or excluded from LGBTQ studies and anthologies. They may consider the impact of LGBTQ fiction on contemporary culture or explore the adaptation of LGBTQ works in opera, theater, film, and TV (Maurice, Queer, and Call Me by Your Name). They may explore works that are not categorized as “queer” but that offer significant representation of LGBTQ characters. Essays on understudied writers, texts, or figures are especially welcome. Ideally, this special issue will suggest new directions for study and expand the scope of LGBTQ literary studies.
Manuscripts (4,000–6,000 words) should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com. The deadline for submissions is 31 December 2026.
