Southern Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal of the South

The editor of Southern Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal of the South invites original manuscripts, which contribute to a greater knowledge and understanding of the American South, to be considered for publication in future volumes. Such areas include literature, history, politics, sociology, geography, anthropology, economics, and historic preservation.

Two copies of previously unpublished manuscripts should be sent to Editor, Southern Studies, 103 Kyser Hall, Northwestern State Univ., Natchitoches, LA 71497. All manuscripts must be carefully edited before submission, double-spaced, printed on 8½″ by 11″ paper. Along with the hard copy, the saved Microsoft Word (preferably) digital file should be submitted electronically, through e-mail or CD. Notes should be placed at the end of the article. It is the author’s responsibility to ensure that manuscripts conform to the guidelines published in The Chicago Manual of Style (16th ed.) or to guidelines published by the Modern Language Association. Because articles are evaluated anonymously, the author’s name should appear only on the title page of the manuscript. Manuscripts may also be sent electronically to the editor’s e-mail address (pellegrinc@nsula.edu) or to the Southern Studies Institute (so_studies@nsula.edu).

The editor of Southern Studies also seeks individuals interested in reviewing books for the journal. If you are interested, please see our list of available books at our website, http://cjhss.nsula.edu/southern-studies/, and contact the editor (pellegrinc@nsula.edu).
