Victoria Urbano Prizes

The Association for Gender and Sexuality Studies / Asociación de Estudios de Género y Sexualidades (AGSS/AEGS) invites submissions for our 2024 Victoria Urbano prizes. The mission of the AGSS/AEGS is to promote dissemination, research, and critical reflection on the cultural productions of the Americas and the Iberian sphere from feminist, gender, sexualities, and other categories of analysis relevant to gender and sexualities studies. Preference is given to these studies in a Hispanic context, but studies may also be carried out on Portuguese-Brazilian and Latin American literature, culture, and cinema. We offer prizes for the best submissions in the following categories: a critical monograph, a critical article by a professor, a critical article by a graduate student, a creative work (either poetry, short story, or theater). A prize for academic recognition is also offered. These prizes are open to submissions from members of AGSS/AEGS about the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking worlds and Latinx literary and cultural production in the United States.
