Dramatizing Difference: New Perspectives on Race and Ethnicity in Modern European Theater: Special Issue of European Drama and Performance Studies
Due Date: 12-31-2021
This special issue will examine how modern or modernist European theater is engaged in dramatizing difference in terms of race and ethnicity but with an eye to intersectional identities, including issues of gender, sexuality, class, nationality, language, and any other factors of relevance. Our goal is to interrogate how the modern(ist) stage encounters, makes visible, problematizes, and responds to forms of difference. Contributions dealing with any European texts, authors, or contexts are welcome; we are also interested in submissions that position European traditions in conversation with global discourses and transnational perspectives.
Abstracts will be evaluated for inclusion in a special issue of European Drama and Performance Studies to be published in 2024. Full article submissions (articles of 8,000 words) for those selected will be due in October 2022 and subject to peer review.
For consideration, submit abstracts of no more than 300 words to msubialka@ucdavis.edu and gefinney@ucdavis.edu by 31 December 2021. For more information, visit https://classiques-garnier.com/european-drama-and-performance-studies-en.html.
