Florida Atlantic University and Huntington Library Collaborative Short-Term Fellowships
Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and the Huntington Library offer three collaborative short-term fellowships for PhD dissertation research in their complementary holdings. Each fellow receives $6,000 to cover travel expenses: $2,500 from FAU and $3,500 from the Huntington.
The two months of research time are split between FAU’s Weiner Spirit of America Collection (Boca Raton, FL) and the Huntington Library (San Marino, CA). The overlap in holdings is strongest in seventeenth-century England and eighteenth- and nineteenth-century America. Applicants in the disciplines of English, material texts, and American studies are especially encouraged to apply.
Although the Weiner Spirit of America Collection is tailored for Anglo-American political philosophy, previous fellows have also successfully examined political economy, nationalism, law, gender, class, race, and bodies and medicine.
To create a collaborative scholarly community around the Weiner Spirit of America Collection, all three fellows will be at FAU simultaneously in October 2025. Each may take the Huntington portion of the fellowship at any time between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026.
Applications are due 15 November 2024. Full program information and the application procedure are available at fau.edu/history/weiner-fellowship.
