Post45: Contemporaries

Post45: Contemporaries is seeking pitches for a cluster on “Gayl Jones, Now and Then,” which aims to reconsider the long arc of her career in the light of the release of Palmares and several additional volumes to be published by Beacon Press over the next year—emphasizing unpublished, out-of-print, and understudied works.
We’re especially looking for contributions from writers and scholars from outside the United States, particularly Latin America and the Caribbean. Pieces written in Spanish, Portuguese, or French will be published in the original and in translation.
Pitches are due on 1 July 2022. We expect accepted pitches to be developed into essays of 3,000–4,000 words; after edits and revisions in the fall of 2022, we plan to publish the cluster essays in early 2023. Contributors to this cluster will be also be invited to join a seminar at the ASAP/13 conference on 14–17 September 2022 in Los Angeles. Due to the conference’s hybrid format, presenters will be able to participate either virtually or in person.
