Sky Imaginaries in Latin American Literature, Film, and Art

This edited collection examines atmospheric and celestial imaginaries in Latin American literature, film, art, and other forms of cultural production. Possible topics and approaches include astronomical knowledge and infrastructures, celestial maps, aviation, satellites, space, colonial and decolonial sky narratives, feminist and queer sky imaginaries, atmospheric and meteorological technologies, UFO and extraterrestrial narratives, orbital debris, migratory plants and animals, air pollution, citizen sky-watch initiatives, and atmospheric and wind humanities, among many others.
Authors should submit abstracts of their proposed chapters (approx. 300 words), a preliminary bibliography, and a short biographical paragraph (approx. 150 words) of each contributing author by 15 August 2025 to operezhe@skidmore.edu. Full CFP can be found here.
